What to look for when hiring an emergency cleaning company

Five questions to ask before letting anyone into your property at 2 in the morning.

Anyone can claim 24/7 on a website. Very few actually answer the phone at 2 a.m. on a Sunday. The difference matters when a pipe has burst, a tenant has trashed a unit on the way out, or a short term rental needs to be guest ready before a 4 p.m. check in.

Question one: who picks up the phone? Call the number before you have an emergency. A real 24/7 company has a human dispatcher, not a voicemail that promises a callback within an hour.

"When others don't show up, we do."

Question two: are you insured and WCB covered? Ask for the certificate. Anyone working in your home overnight should carry general liability and workers compensation. If they hesitate, hang up.

Question three: is the crew who shows up the same crew who handles follow up? Continuity matters when you are stressed and tired. A different team for the urgent visit and the next day touch up means re-explaining everything.

Question four: do you have a real local address? Vancouver has a long history of fly by night cleaning brokers who subcontract everything. A local crew with a physical address is accountable in a way a referral marketplace is not.

Question five: what is included in the quoted price? Emergency rates should be transparent. We charge a clear after hours rate, no fuel surcharges, no surprise add ons. Anyone who refuses to quote until they arrive is not the company you want at 2 a.m.
